Discover Our Story: Committed to Nature and Local Communities
Why Bosque Guardian Lodge?
We seek to redefine the term ‘luxury’ by offering all of the desired amenities in the heart of the tropical Amazon jungle while being part of its conservation. Since 2018 we have been part of the Bosque Guardian association, focused upon creating environmental and community projects in this sector of the Cordillera Escalera: staying in our jungle lodge is not only a way to protect the unique Amazonian ecosystems, but also an opportunity to positively impact the local communities and each of our guests.

Bosque Guardian means to connect to the Amazon upon various levels and paths. We monitor the health of our immediate natural environment by way of the Plan Jaguar, a camera-trap system that takes care of the habitat of the great South American feline. We seek to demonstrate that the interconnection between nature and human beings is accentuated through recognition, research, agroforestry— with an emphasis on cacao— and social initiatives such as beekeeping (Meliponas) and Bosques del Papel, a bio-business run by local women who turn plant fibers and recycled paper into notebooks, wallets and more.
Bosque Guardian Lodge is a unique hospitality experience tucked in the Peruvian Amazon jungle whereby our guests are invited to take part in our commitment to the forest’s protection through sustainable activities that support and benefit the local communities of El Progreso and San José. We strive for excellence in sustainable tourism and conservation by revaluing local cultures, nearby communities to which we belong and the nature that surrounds.
We are committed to the communities that line the Tiraco River and all that surrounds and welcomes us. The love and empathy for the Amazon jungle allows us to transmit the passion— in every moment— to our guests, be they explorers fascinated by nature, art or science. Through this union of person and place is developed creative, sustainable and endless learning opportunities that transform ways of thinking and lifestyles.
Our Story
In 2017, born from their passion for the Amazon and noting the potential of the Regional Conservation Area (Spanish acronym ACR) Cordillera Escalera, our founders decided to form an association that would protect land in the buffer zone of this ACR. Flanking the IIRSA North highway along the Tarapoto-Yurimaguas route, this specific section has been greatly affected by agricultural activities. Later came the idea of a hotel that would help sustain the Bosque Guardian association, a non-profit organization, while bringing awareness to Peru’s Amazon jungle. Although construction of the lodge would begin in 2019 with intention to begin operation in 2020, the global pandemic postponed the plans until 2021. Today, Bosque Guardian protects over 140 hectares in the high Amazon jungle of Peru.
